What you will do
- Inspire students to develop a greater passion and depth of understanding in your specialist subject.
- Support students to develop habits of academic excellence during their time as Sixth Formers and beyond university.
- Help students develop literacy, numeracy, communication and oracy skills required for university success.
- Provide pastoral support for confident, resilient young people.
- Work one‑to‑one or in small groups to strengthen subject understanding and boost attainment.
- Plan and deliver sessions on academic literacy, time management and study skills.
- Assist students applying to top universities, especially Oxford and Cambridge.
- Collaborate with academic and pastoral staff to identify students who would benefit from targeted support.
- Develop personalised action plans to achieve measurable academic progress.
- Support teaching staff in techniques for vulnerable students.
- Identify and screen students with special educational needs in partnership with the SENDCO team and Deputy Head (Pastoral).
- Who makes an exceptional Teaching Assistant
- Academically gifted graduate from a Russell Group university, ideally 1st Class or 2:1.
- Strong A‑Level and GCSE academic record (A*-B desirable).
