A super friendly Primary School based in Newham are looking to recruit a confident and creative Aspiring Art Therapist to support pupils across EYFS, KS1 & KS2. We're specifically looking for candidates with an Art, Drama, Music, Performing Arts or Creative Arts background, who have some previous experience working with children, as well as the ability to engage pupils using creative and artistic methods. This is a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring Art Therapist, Play Therapist, Child Psychologist, Primary Teacher or SEN professional who is looking to gain long-term, hands-on experience within a supportive primary school setting. What will this Aspiring Art Therapist position involve? Working with pupils across EYFS, KS1 & KS2 Supporting pupils with mild SEN, including ASD, ADHD, dyslexia and Speech & Language needs Small group and 1:1 support Using creativity, art and imagination to engage pupils with the primary curriculum Supporting pupils with confidence, communication, emotional regulation and social development Helping to create a calm, positive and nurturing learning environment Please read on below to find out further details about this Aspiring Art Therapist opportunity in the Borough of Newham! ABOUT THE ROLE Primary Teaching Assistant Aspiring Art Therapist Working with pupils across EYFS, KS1 & KS2 Supporting pupils with mild SEN, including ASD, ADHD, dyslexia and Speech & Language needs Small group and 1:1 work Using creativity and artistic methods to engage pupils Supporting pupils academically, socially and emotionally £110 - £115 per day Full-time, term-time only Long-term role for the full academic year September 2026 start Based in the London Borough of Newham ABOUT YOU Some previous experience working with children A confident and enthusiastic personality Creative and capable of coming up with innovative, fun and engaging ideas A background in Art, Fine Art, Drama, Music, Performing Arts, Creative Arts or a related subject A genuine passion for education, child development and supporting young people Patient, nurturing and calm in challenging situations Able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families Ideal for aspiring Art Therapists, Play Therapists, Child Psychologists, Primary Teachers or SEN professionals ABOUT THE SCHOOL Primary School based in Newham Warm, friendly and close-knit atmosphere Creative, inclusive and community-focused ethos Supportive staff team and experienced leadership Strong focus on pupil wellbeing, confidence and personal development Training and development opportunities throughout the academic year Excellent transport links If you are interested in this Aspiring Art Therapist role, trial days can be arranged immediately!
