We are working with a large multinational insurer who are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Technical Accountant to join their Ipswich team.
This is a key role within the technical accounting and statutory reporting function, supporting statutory accounts, technical accounting papers and Group reporting, while providing advice on complex accounting matters across the business.
Key responsibilities
- Support the preparation of statutory financial accounts in line with relevant accounting standards and reporting deadlines.
- Prepare technical accounting papers and provide input on key audit topics.
- Investigate and advise on new and emerging technical accounting issues.
- Provide technical accounting guidance and training to Finance and wider business teams.
- Support independent reviews of balance sheet reconciliations.
- Ensure relevant financial controls and documentation are maintained.
- Build strong relationships across a complex, matrixed organisation.
- Apply strong knowledge of insurance, reinsurance and investment accounting.
About you
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, FRS 101 and FRS 102.
- Qualified accountant or equivalent through significant relevant experience.
- Experience with financial accounting, statutory reporting, audits and reconciliations.
- Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Able to work independently, manage competing priorities and explain complex accounting matters clearly.
- Insurance experience is essential, with a strong understanding of insurance and reinsurance accounting.
