The Interim Group Financial Accountant will provide effective support to the Group Finance Manager across all aspects of group and management reporting. The role plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, delivering robust group and statutory reporting, supporting Board-level decision making, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements within a regulated insurance environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the accounting ledgers and audit files for the UK holding company and one or more group subsidiary companies.
- Take ownership of the accounts for the group coverholder, including calculation and recognition of fee income and earned profit commission receivable from consortium members.
- Calculate and post group consolidation journals under UK GAAP and US GAAP (as applicable) and assist with the quarterly group consolidation process.
- Prepare and review journals and reconciliations, including intercompany reconciliations, bank reconciliations, cash journals, and fixed asset registers.
- Prepare quarterly management accounts for the UK holding company and group subsidiary companies.
- Assist with Board and executive reporting, including quarterly CFO and Board packs.
- Support the production of the group consolidated forecast model and provide commentary for Board reporting.
- Assist with the annual expense budgeting process and prepare supporting analysis.
- Prepare annual statutory accounts for the UK holding company and assigned group subsidiaries.
- Maintain relationships with external auditors, ensuring audit deliverables are met and queries responded to in a timely manner.
- Prepare quarterly VAT returns and maintain up-to-date audit files.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, key controls, and internal governance requirements.
- Provide cover for financial reporting responsibilities within the finance team during periods of absence.
- Undertake ad hoc finance projects and research as required.
Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications
- Fully qualified accountant (essential).
- Experience in financial reporting within Lloyd’s insurance, Bermuda insurance, UK general insurance, or insurance audit (preferred).
- Knowledge of Lloyd’s Syndicate or Corporate Member reporting and/or Lloyd’s managing agency operations (preferred).
- Strong understanding of group consolidation and multi-entity reporting.
- Hands-on experience with accounting systems such as CODA or SUN.
- Strong numeracy skills with intermediate Microsoft Excel capability.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work accurately under pressure.
