We are partnering with a leading Lloyd’s Insurer in the search for an experienced Underwriting Performance Manager to join a high-performing underwriting management and portfolio function.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the performance analysis of a portfolio of MGA and delegated authority arrangements across multiple lines of business.
- Deliver meaningful underwriting analytics and portfolio insight to support underwriting strategy, profitability, and capacity deployment decisions.
- Analyse portfolio performance trends, loss ratios, exposure management, rate adequacy, and underwriting quality metrics, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Produce and enhance underwriting performance MI, dashboards, and executive-level reporting for senior stakeholders and underwriting committees.
- Partner closely with underwriting teams to challenge portfolio performance, monitor underwriting discipline, and support remedial action planning where required.
- Support the ongoing oversight of delegated authority performance, including bordereaux management, data quality, KPI monitoring, and governance controls.
- Work collaboratively with actuarial, finance, claims, exposure management, compliance, and operations teams to ensure a holistic view of portfolio performance.
- Develop and refine underwriting KPIs, portfolio benchmarking methodologies, and performance standards across the business.
- Support capacity planning, business planning, and portfolio optimisation initiatives through robust analytical insight and strategic recommendations.
- Identify opportunities for process automation, reporting enhancement, and improved data utilisation through tools such as Power BI and advanced analytics platforms.
- Assist in the development and mentoring of junior analysts and underwriting performance team members where appropriate.
- Support senior underwriting leadership in delivering strategic underwriting and delegated authority objectives across the wider business.
Skills & Experience Required
- 7–8 years’ experience within the Lloyd’s and London Market insurance sector.
- Strong experience within underwriting performance, underwriting analytics and portfolio management, or underwriting management functions.
- Strong understanding of underwriting performance metrics, portfolio analytics, loss drivers, and underwriting governance frameworks.
- Excellent knowledge of Lloyd’s market processes, delegated authority controls, and regulatory expectations.
- Strong analytical and commercial mindset with the ability to translate complex data into clear business insight and strategic recommendations.
- Advanced MI and reporting capability, including strong Excel skills and experience with Power BI or similar visualisation tools.
