We are currently partnering with a market-leading Lloyd’s Insurer to recruit a Senior Data Analyst. Reporting into the Data Analytics Manager, the successful candidate will play a key part in building long-term data partnerships with underwriting, claims, and exposure management teams, ensuring analytics becomes embedded in everyday decision-making rather than delivered as standalone reports.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Translating broad commercial questions into clear, actionable analyses and dashboard requirements.
  • Exploring and implementing AI-driven enhancements to analytics workflows, including the use of LLMs and agentic tools for data exploration, code generation, documentation, and insight generation.
  • Supporting the Data Analytics Manager in developing external data and analytics propositions, from discovery and prototyping through to delivery.
  • Embedding and upholding the team’s BI and analytics development lifecycle, including documentation, peer review, naming conventions, and production sign-off processes.
  • Maintaining robust source-control practices for Power BI assets, including PBIP/TMDL formats, Git repositories, feature branches, pull requests, and structured commit histories.
  • Contributing to Power BI governance, including Dev/Test/Prod environments, deployment pipelines, dataset certification, refresh monitoring, and access controls.
  • Coaching and mentoring analysts and BI developers on SQL, DAX, data modelling, visualisation best practices, and engineering standards.
  • Collaborating with Data Engineering teams to shape semantic layers and data marts that align with analytics and business requirements.
  • Delivering complex analytics initiatives end-to-end, including scoping, estimation, implementation, handover, and post-delivery review.
  • Operating within an Agile framework, contributing to backlog prioritisation, breaking down work into epics and user stories, and providing realistic delivery estimates.

Requirements:

  • 5–10 years’ experience in data analytics or BI, including experience within a Lloyd’s syndicate, managing agent, London Market broker, or specialty (re)insurer.
  • Strong SQL skills, including query optimisation and experience with the Azure data stack (e.g. Data Factory, Synapse, or Fabric).
  • Advanced Power BI capabilities, including data modelling, DAX, Power Query/M, performance optimisation, and deployment pipelines.
