We are supporting a Lloyd’s Insurer in the search for an Underwriting Performance Analyst to join a high-performing analytics function. This role will focus on delivering insightful underwriting performance analysis while also offering exposure to actuarial concepts and collaboration with actuarial teams.
Responsibilities
- Analyse underwriting performance across portfolios, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to support business strategy.
- Produce and enhance underwriting performance reports and dashboards for internal stakeholders and Lloyd’s reporting requirements.
- Support the monitoring and development of underwriting controls, ensuring alignment with internal governance and regulatory standards.
- Partner closely with actuarial teams to incorporate pricing, reserving, and profitability insights into performance analysis.
- Assist in the development and refinement of KPIs and performance metrics across underwriting lines.
- Contribute to business planning, forecasting, and portfolio optimisation initiatives.
- Support data quality improvement initiatives and ensure consistency across underwriting and actuarial data sources.
- Assist with audit and validation processes, including preparation of supporting documentation and analysis.
- Drive continuous improvement in reporting processes, tools, and analytics capabilities (e.g. Power BI).
- Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, finance, and compliance teams to deliver cohesive performance insights.
Qualifications & Skills
- 2–5 years’ experience within the Lloyd’s market or wider insurance sector.
- Experience in underwriting analytics, performance analysis, or actuarial support functions.
- Exposure to actuarial concepts such as pricing, reserving, or loss ratio analysis (formal actuarial exams advantageous but not required).
- Strong understanding of underwriting performance drivers and portfolio analytics.
- Experience with Power BI or similar visualisation tools preferred.
