We’re working with a growing specialist MGA looking to hire an
Assistant Underwriter into their W&I team.
This is a great opportunity for someone with 1–3 years’ insurance experience who wants to build a career within transactional risk and work closely with experienced underwriters in a growing, entrepreneurial business.
Core responsibilities
- Support the underwriting of W&I and other transactional risk opportunities.
- Review and analyse insurance submissions, legal documentation and due diligence information.
- Assist with risk assessment, policy analysis, pricing and the preparation of underwriting recommendations.
- Work closely with brokers, clients, solicitors and other stakeholders throughout the underwriting process.
- Develop strong relationships with brokers and distribution partners.
- Support senior underwriters with portfolio management and ongoing risk assessment.
- Contribute to the development of underwriting processes, documentation and best practice.
- Maintain a strong understanding of W&I market trends and emerging risks.
- Ensure underwriting decisions are made in line with the company's appetite and governance framework.
- Take ownership of tasks and contribute to the wider development of the business.
What they’re looking for
- 1–3 years’ experience within insurance
- W&I, Title, Legal Indemnity, Cyber or D&O class experience
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Experience within a smaller MGA, insurer or underwriting agency would be advantageous
