Commercial Governance & Procurement Manager
Role Purpose
To lead commercial governance, contract management, procurement and onboarding activities, ensuring contracts are commercially viable, operationally deliverable, appropriately risk assessed and effectively mobilised.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the review, assessment and approval of client, framework and supplier contracts.
- Assess commercial viability, profitability, contractual obligations, SLAs, payment terms and associated risks.
- Ensure the organisation has the operational capacity and resources to deliver contractual commitments.
- Act as a commercial and safeguarding gatekeeper, escalating significant financial, operational or contractual risks.
- Work closely with Finance, Operations and Business Development to support informed contract decisions.
- Negotiate amendments and recommend appropriate actions where contractual terms present unacceptable risk.
- Develop and improve commercial governance, procurement and contract management processes.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen controls, improve efficiency and enhance contract mobilisation.
- Manage and support an Onboarding Coordinator, including workload management, performance, development and continuous improvement.
- Ensure onboarding documentation, compliance and mobilisation processes are consistently applied to a high standard.
Skills & Experience
- Strong commercial judgement and business acumen.
- Proven experience in commercial governance, procurement and/or contract management.
- Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to assess and manage commercial, operational and contractual risk.
- Organised, resilient and adaptable, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to wider organisational objectives.
- Experience managing or mentoring staff is desirable.
