An opportunity for an experienced data professional to support the transformation and modernisation of enterprise project reporting and data processes within a large-scale infrastructure environment. This role will focus on standardising and automating the flow of project and operational data across multiple systems, helping to replace legacy reporting processes with scalable cloud-based solutions. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing reliable data ingestion processes, improving data quality, and enhancing reporting capabilities through modern data platforms and BI tooling.

The position combines elements of data engineering, data modelling, reporting, and stakeholder engagement, making it well suited to someone who enjoys both technical problem-solving and working closely with business users.

You will support the Data Systems team in understanding, documenting, and rebuilding an existing project data reporting ecosystem, transitioning from legacy PowerQuery/VBA-based solutions into a modern cloud-based architecture using technologies such as Microsoft Fabric or Databricks. Working across multiple data sources and platforms, you will help create scalable and automated pipelines that ingest, structure, and transform complex datasets into reliable reporting models. You will also collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate business needs into effective Power BI dashboards, data models, and DAX measures.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and developing robust data ingestion and transformation pipelines
  • Standardising data flows across multiple platforms and reporting systems
  • Supporting the migration away from legacy technologies such as Access databases and VBA-driven processes
  • Developing scalable cloud-based data solutions using Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, or similar technologies
  • Improving data quality, validation, and governance processes
  • Supporting bulk-upload and integration processes into ERP platforms such as SAP
  • Building and enhancing relational reporting models in Power BI
  • Creating and optimising Power Query transformations and DAX measures
  • Working with stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Documenting data structures, workflows, and transformation logic
  • Supporting version control and best practices for data and scripting processes

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Strong experience in data engineering, data transformation, and data wrangling
  • Proven ability to build reliable ETL/ELT pipelines using Python, R, Scala, or similar technologies
  • Experience working with irregular or complex datasets and transforming them into structured, usable formats
  • Strong Power BI experience, including Power Query and DAX
  • Experience integrating data from multiple systems and sources
  • Experience working within large infrastructure, utilities, engineering, or project-focused environments
  • Understanding of project controls, PMO reporting, or operational reporting environments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric and/or Databricks
  • Experience building automated data extraction and integration processes
  • Exposure to SAP data integrations or ERP reporting environments
  • Understanding of cloud-based data architecture and modern data platforms
  • Experience with version control tools and collaborative development practices
  • Knowledge of data governance and data quality frameworks
