Fantastic 12-18 months Fixed-Term-Contract opportunity to join an international specialist insurance company, embarking on an exciting new transformation journey!
The business is currently transitioning from on-prem SQL data engineering and Excel analytics approach, to an Azure cloud Databricks and PowerBI data engineering and analytics capability.
The Role
As the Senior Data Management Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing the data management strategy, frameworks, policies, and procedures for the new data platform and for wider the UK data ecoystem. You will ensure data quality, integrity, and security while driving compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Considering their current position, there is the opportunity to shape the path and deliver the outcome. There is also the need for you to contribute and work with the team in delivering current commitments, so business as usual is part of this role.
The business is currently conducting a data governance tool selection process. This role will lead the implementation of the selected tool for UK.
A Data Management Specialist will be recruited to assist the Senior in implementing the Data Management Strategy once it has been defined.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Lead the Data Management Area within UK Insurance Analytics.
- Develop and implement the UK data management strategy to ensure data quality, consistency, accessibility, usability and security.
- Develop and implement processes and policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data standards, data ownership, and data stewardship roles.
- Monitor and enforce data governance policies and standards across UK.
- Provide guidance and training to stakeholders on data governance best practices.
- Ensure data compliance and data usage control in collaboration with UK Privacy team.
- Implement the chosen Data Management tool into UK data management processes.
Required skills:
- Educated to degree level, or relevant experience, particularly in Data, Technology or Software Engineering (or similar).
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in data management, data governance or related role with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Experience of developing and implementing data management strategies.
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, methodologies, and best practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR).
- Fluent in English.
Desirable skills:
- Relevant Certifications (eg CDMP, DGSP)
- Experience of Data Management tools (Unity Catalog, Purview etc)
- Experience of Azure, Databricks, and Power BI
- Hands-on experience in the Insurance Sector or Financial Services.
