Overview

This is a leadership role with real influence, where you’ll stay hands-on while shaping people, systems, and future direction. You’ll lead and mentor a high-performing team, foster a customer-focused, solutions-driven culture, and provide technical support across mobilisation, telephony, radio, and control systems.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll oversee incident resolution, service requests, and change management using ITIL best practices, while driving innovation through new technologies and process improvements. Managing system lifecycle, capacity, and performance will be key to maintaining resilient, effective services. You’ll collaborate with colleagues, suppliers, and stakeholders to deliver communication solutions that meet evolving business needs. You’ll also deputise for the Operational Comms Manager and take part in a 24/7 on-call rota.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone with strong technical knowledge of operational comms systems and proven experience mentoring or leading a technical team.

  • You’ll need excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to adapt to change, and a collaborative approach. HND in Digital Technology or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • ITIL V4: Foundation certification or higher.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring experience in technical teams.
  • Deep knowledge of: Airwave Firelink & MDT, ESN, Control room & mobilising systems, VHF/UHF radio systems
