Job Description

A Senior Quantity surveyor is required to join the team of a reputable civil engineering contractor in the North of Scotland.

This is an opportunity within one of Scotland’s leading civil engineering and building contractors, with a strong presence across Inverness Highlands and Islands. They deliver transformative infrastructure projects across sectors including Energy, Marine, Transport, and Civil Engineering. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will lead the cost management and contractual aspects of projects, providing expertise and guidance to ensure successful project delivery. This role requires an experienced QS with strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex projects from inception to completion. Responsibilities include:

  • Develop accurate budgets and cost plans.
  • Monitor spending, manage variances, and identify savings.
  • Prepare, negotiate, and manage contracts, ensuring compliance and resolving disputes.
  • Lead tender processes and supplier selection.
  • Negotiate favourable terms and build strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Enforce cost control measures and produce regular reports.
  • Analyse performance and recommend improvements.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks.
  • Guide teams in proactive risk management.
  • Mentor junior staff and promote collaboration.
  • Lead with professionalism and integrity.
