This is an excellent opportunity to join a well‑established East Lothian business and play a key role in shaping the success of their finance operations. Please note - this role will be fully onsite for the initial first few months, with a view to then move to a hybrid.
The Opportunity
As the Purchase Ledger Team Leader, you’ll oversee the day‑to‑day running of the purchase ledger function, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and strong supplier relationships. You’ll lead a small team, drive process improvements, and support the Finance Manager in delivering a smooth month‑end close. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands‑on environment, enjoys mentoring others, and takes pride in delivering high‑quality financial work.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the Purchase Ledger team, providing coaching, guidance, and workload management
- Ensure accurate invoice processing, supplier reconciliations, and payment runs
- Ensure all transactions are recorded accurately and in line with company policies
- Resolve supplier queries promptly and professionally
- Work closely with internal departments to improve processes and communication
- Support month‑end activities, including accruals and reporting
- Identify opportunities for efficiency and implement best practice across the ledger function

- Strong experience within purchase ledger / accounts payable
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience (or a clear desire to step into leadership)
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Confident communicator with the ability to build strong internal and external relationships
- Proactive mindset with a passion for improving processes
