Role: Payroll Assistant 12m FTC. 35 hours pw.

Eden Scott Accountancy & Finance Division are delighted to be partnering with a well-established organisation in Glasgow as they seek an experienced Payroll Assistant on a 12m FTC on a full-time basis.

About the role

With a strong Scottish history, this organisation are well regarded for being a leader in their respective field - and have successfully expanded their reach to an international basis. Reporting into the Payroll Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for processing the UK weekly payroll whilst supporting on the monthly payroll as needed. Key duties include:

  • Accurately processing weekly payroll data and managing inputs for outsourced payroll services
  • Handling starters, leavers, and payroll changes with accuracy
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory obligations including FPS, P11D, PAYE/NIC, and benefit deductions
  • Maintaining integrity of payroll data within the time and attendance system
  • Collaborating with HR to uphold process controls and support managers with system usage
  • Posting payroll transactions promptly to the general ledger
  • Assisting with month-end accruals and reconciliation activities
  • Producing timely and relevant payroll reports for stakeholders
  • Analysing key variances and providing commentary
  • Generating month-end reports for final reconciliation

Qualifications and experience

  • Experience in high-volume payroll environments
  • Familiarity with time and attendance systems and outsourced payroll operations
  • Understanding of statutory reporting (P60, P11D, PSA) and general ledger processes
  • Intermediate or higher proficiency in Excel and strong analytical skills
  • Clear communication style and ability to engage across all levels
  • High attention to detail and accuracy under pressure
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Proactive mindset with a collaborative approach
  • Confidence in handling sensitive queries and driving process improvements
  • Trustworthiness in managing confidential data
