Eden Scott is delighted to be retained by Peterson to appoint a Business Manager / Site Lead. Peterson is an international energy logistics and supply chain solutions company celebrating over 20 years operating from the Port of Heysham. The site employs more than 25 people and provides quayside, transport and warehousing solutions to clients across the energy spectrum.

Reporting to the Managing Director you will be responsible and accountable for site leadership, safety performance, profitability and growth. As site leader, you are responsible for people and culture, promoting and encouraging safe working practices and initiatives within the workforce. The role competently provides operational management and direction to ensure effective utilisation of resources with a focus on customer delivery and engagement. The successful candidate will demonstrate good leadership as well as experience of maintaining excellent working relationships with customers, colleagues and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Through effective leadership, create and maintain a positive and safe working culture
  • Deliver first-class service to customers
  • Support long-term decision making, working closely with MD
  • Prepare budgets and manage P&L
  • Develop and implement business strategies, seeking out growth opportunities for the site
  • Lead tender opportunities, including the creation and analysis of financial models to support submissions
  • Effectively manage the on-plan delivery of the budget for the region both in terms of revenue and expenditure
  • Accountable for ensuring staff are fully trained and competent in the execution of all tasks
  • Fully support a culture of performance management through the division where all staff are assessed for competence and appraised on a regular basis
  • Meet customers on a regular basis to update on operational performance and to address any issues as and when they may arise
  • Ensure the region is operating within all legislative parameters and corporate governance procedures and processes
  • Carry out regular site visits and safety inspections (both planned and unannounced)
  • Track KPIs and performance metrics, preparing reporting as required and using data insights
Experience Required
  • Previous experience within a similar operational role, preferable in logistics (warehouse, transport and quayside operations) but not restricted to the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong leadership experience and able to demonstrate success with dealing with difficult situations both people and operational.
  • Evidence of working effectively with customers at a senior level.
  • Commercially astute with previous budget and P&L responsibility.
  • IT literate and proficient in the use of MS Office.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • IOSH Certified.
