The Outsourced Finance Assistant / Bookkeeper Role

This role sits within the firm’s outsourced finance function, supporting a varied portfolio of clients. Responsibilities include:

  • Bulk processing of invoices, expenses and financial transactions
  • Credit control duties
  • Bank and control account reconciliations
  • Preparing VAT files and returns, including month‑end reconciliations
  • Supporting managers with ad‑hoc client tasks
  • Setting up online accounting software
  • Keeping up to date with VAT rules and accounting software developments
  • Communicating with clients and HMRC, both verbally and in writing
  • Working closely with colleagues to deliver a coordinated service
  • Maintaining regular client contact to provide proactive support
  • Filing and document management

This is a hands‑on role with excellent exposure to clients and modern cloud‑based systems.

About You

You will ideally bring:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an accountancy practice using online accounting software
  • A genuine interest in cloud accounting, tech‑enabled processes and advisory services
  • A commitment to delivering first‑class service
  • The ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong IT skills and the ability to retain and apply software knowledge
  • Confident written and verbal communication skills
  • Adaptability and strong organisational skills
