We are partnering with a high-growth, investor-backed renewable energy business headquartered in Edinburgh, seeking a new Head of FP&A to play a pivotal role in shaping financial strategy and supporting major capital investment decisions. Candidates must have strong experience delivering FP&A services within the energy sector or other capital-intensive business with a combination of operational cash-generating assets and assets under development. This is a critical hire at an exciting stage of growth, with new investment expected this year and an ambitious roadmap to deliver significant GW of operational capacity in the next 5-6 years. You will work directly with the CFO and Executive Team, providing insight that drives performance, supports investor reporting, and enables strategic decision-making across a complex portfolio of onshore wind, solar, and battery projects.
Reporting to the CFO, you will lead the FP&A function and be responsible for delivering best-in-class financial planning, analysis, and insight across the business.
Responsibilities:
- Implementing and embedding an FP&A function that will cover all companies and ventures within the business.
- Leading annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes, with the aim of producing high-quality management reporting and decision-focused financial insights.
- Producing reports for the Board, Executive Team and handling direct communications with company investors and other external stakeholders.
- Partnering with Commercial, Development, Construction and Asset Management teams to challenge assumptions and improve planning accuracy.
- Enhancing FP&A processes, models, systems, and reporting capabilities to establish a best-in-class function.
- Overseeing consolidated financial models and ensuring strong governance and financial discipline.
What We’re Looking For:
- A commercially minded finance leader who thrives in a fast-paced, growth environment with a strong background in FP&A or commercial finance within the renewable energy sector, with exposure to operating assets and development assets.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and support executive decision-making and to deal directly with external investors and other external stakeholders.
- Excellent financial modelling and analytical capability; proficient with Excel and data interrogation tools such as PowerBI, DataRails or equivalents.
- Ideally full professional membership of ICAS, ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent; CFA candidates would also be considered.
