This leadership role demands setting direction, clarifying priorities, and ensuring digital services meet the needs of social service workers, employers, students, staff, and the public. The role requires translating technical choices into clear organisational and public benefits, rather than technocentrism.

Reporting to the Director of Strategy & Business Services, the Head will lead a multidisciplinary digital services team. Strategic leadership is complemented by governance and assurance responsibilities, overseeing digital delivery, cybersecurity, data protection, business continuity, and risk management. The role operates at both strategic and operational levels, advising senior stakeholders and governing bodies while fostering continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation.

What you need to succeed

  • Significant senior level experience leading digital services, IT, or technology functions within a complex organisation.
  • Strong track record of developing and delivering digital strategies and leading digital change or transformation.
  • Experience operating within robust governance, assurance and risk management frameworks.
  • Deep understanding of cyber security, data protection, business continuity and digital resilience.
  • Proven people‐leadership skills, with a history of developing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with experience working with senior leaders, boards and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in the public sector, regulatory environments or delivering user‐centred digital services is advantageous.
