Eden Scott's client is seeking a candidate who is available for a Banking Payment Analyst to join their expanding team based in Edinburgh. The role will be hybrid, 3 days in the office and 2 days at home.

The successful individual will get involved in the following:

  • Monitor daily shared mailbox, responding to all internal/external queries promptly and regularly.
  • Deal with daily end-of-day checking of all online banking systems to ensure payments have been released.
  • Monitor, investigate, and resolve payment processing issues across domestic and international transactions (BACS, CHAPS, Faster Payments, SWIFT).
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of high-volume payments in compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards.
  • Liaise with internal teams, banks, and external stakeholders to ensure the smooth flow of funds and resolve payment queries.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and support automation and improvement initiatives within the payments function.
  • Perform reconciliations, exception handling, and assist in month-end reporting related to cash movements and payment activity.
  • Stay current with payment regulations and industry changes, providing insight and updates to the team.

Person Specification

  • Relevant knowledge and experience, ideally in a back office, middle office, operations or similar function of a banking/financial services organisation.
  • Preference for candidates who have worked with UK Payment schemes.
  • Knowledge of bank payments/account to account transfers.
  • Diverse product knowledge, with an ability to develop an understanding of new products.
  • Ability to work under considerable time pressure, whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and quality.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills to analyse the information, identify the problems, and work towards finding the solutions.
