Backup Infrastructure Engineer – Hybrid | Glasgow City Centre | Be the SME Driving Resilience & Innovation

This hybrid role (three days a week in a modern Glasgow city centre office) offers the perfect blend of flexibility, collaboration, and impact. You will be the go-to expert for backup strategy, implementation, and optimisation across a diverse and dynamic environment.

What You\’ll Be Doing:

  • Acting as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Designing, deploying, and integrating enterprise-grade backup platforms -ideally NetBackup or similar
  • Leading infrastructure build and migration projects with a strong focus on data protection
  • Collaborating globally to meet customer needs and ensure service excellence
  • Advising on technical solutions, troubleshooting complex issues, and driving continuous improvement
  • What You\’ll Bring:

  • Proven experience with backup/data protection platforms -NetBackup, Cohesity, Veeam, or similar
  • Strong grasp of on-premise infrastructure: storage, networking, operating systems
  • Expertise in disaster recovery planning and execution
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Clear communication and customer-facing abilities
  • A proactive mindset and team-oriented approach
  • Bonus Skills (Not Required, But Nice to Have):

  • Experience with scripting or infrastructure automation
  • UNIX/Windows Server administration
  • Familiarity with SAN, NAS, or S3 storage
  • Exposure to Kubernetes/OpenShift
  • Cloud computing knowledge (Azure, AWS)
  • Project management experience
  • Security hardening and vulnerability detection
