Eden Scott is supporting a leading South Lanarkshire SME as they look to appoint an experienced Accountant on a full‑time, permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a QBE, part‑qualified or fully qualified finance professional who wants to take ownership of day‑to‑day finance operations within a growing business. As the Accountant, you’ll play a key role in ensuring smooth financial processes as the organisation scales. You’ll manage core finance activities, support month‑end, and work closely with operational teams to deliver accurate, timely financial information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full purchase ledger: processing invoices, reconciling statements and running weekly payment runs
  • Oversee the sales ledger: raising invoices/applications for payment, monitoring aged debt and chasing outstanding balances
  • Complete bank, credit card and supplier reconciliations
  • Support payroll preparation, including timesheets and CIS deductions
  • Lead the month‑end close process: accruals, prepayments, journals and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare VAT returns, CIS submissions and other statutory filings with support from the Head of Finance
  • Manage accrued income reconciliations and review project performance
  • Contribute to ongoing process improvements as the business grows

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong experience across purchase ledger, sales ledger and reconciliations
  • Confident user of accounting software (such as Xero) and Excel
  • High attention to detail and accuracy under deadlines
  • Clear communication skills and confidence dealing with suppliers and internal teams
  • Organised, proactive and able to manage a varied workload
  • Ability to commute to East Kilbride five days per week
  • Experience in construction, engineering, contracting or other project‑based environments
  • Knowledge of CIS, retentions and applications for payment
  • AAT, ACCA or CIMA (part‑qualified or qualified), or QBE
  • Experience with ERP or project costing systems
