A long-established and well-respected IFA practice based in Radlett, Hertfordshire is looking to appoint an Employed Financial Adviser to join the business during a period of sustained growth. This role is ideal for an adviser who enjoys servicing and developing an existing client portfolio, rather than chasing leads or operating on a self-employed basis.
The Opportunity
- Established IFA firm trading for 40+ years.
- Approximately £500m AUM within the core business, plus additional assets from self-employed advisers.
- Recent acquisition and two retiring advisers have created a significant overflow of clients.
- Ready-made client bank available from day one.
- Supportive, collaborative environment with strong back-office and paraplanning support.
The Role
As an Employed IFA, you will take responsibility for an inherited portfolio of clients, delivering holistic financial advice across investments, pensions and retirement planning. Your focus will be on:
- Servicing and retaining an existing client base.
- Conducting client meetings (office-based, home visits and Teams/Zoom).
- Providing high-quality, compliant advice and ongoing reviews.
- Working closely with paraplanners and administrators.
- Contributing to organic growth where appropriate.
This is very much a “farmer” role, suited to someone who values long-term client relationships, although there is scope to generate new business if desired.
Salary & Bonus
- Typical base salary: £50,000
- Higher base (up to £60,000) considered for more experienced advisers.
- Revenue-linked bonus structure, paid on both new and ongoing revenue.
- Bonus thresholds and validation levels agreed after meeting, ensuring they are realistic and achievable.
- Typically a £50k salary would equate to a £175k threshold and you would earn 25% of all additional revenue beyond that.
Working Pattern
Hybrid role: mix of office-based meetings, home visits and remote client meetings. Full flexibility with your own diary. Initially more office presence expected to support onboarding and integration, with flexibility longer-term.
Team & Support
- Around 30 staff in total.
- 10 advisers and approximately 20 support staff.
- Strong admin and paraplanning function, with flexibility to increase support for high performers.
- Modern office setup with hot-desking, laptops and docking stations.
- 4x salary death in service.
- 1x salary critical illness cover.
- 0.75x salary income protection.
- Company pension.
- 20 days holiday, increasing by 1 day per year up to 25 days.
- Office typically closes between Christmas and New Year without deducting annual leave.
What They’re Looking For
- Qualified Financial Adviser with experience servicing client portfolios.
- Comfortable inheriting and managing an existing client bank.
- Client-focused, professional and dependable (“steady pair of hands”).
- Able to work collaboratively within a small, well-established team.
