Messingham Lakes is a vibrant and growing leisure destination featuring luxury lodges, an 18 hole golf course, and a thriving food & beverage operation. We currently operate The Lounge, serving a popular mix of classics, Italian inspired dishes, and pizzas to our lodge guests, golf members and local community. We also provide catering for weddings, private functions, and corporate events throughout the year.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced, motivated and hands-on Head Chef to lead the kitchen through this next phase of development. You will oversee all aspects of kitchen management, support the small but eager team, and ensure consistent quality across our restaurant and event operations. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys variety, structure, and being involved in the evolution of the menu into the new season.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the kitchen team, ensuring smooth daily operations.
- Oversee all food preparation and service across the lounge, bar and events.
- Develop menus for the new concept, as well as seasonal menus and specials.
- Deliver high quality service for weddings, golf societies, buffets, and private events.
- Maintain excellent food safety, hygiene, and allergen compliance.
- Manage stock control, ordering, supplier relationships, and GP targets.
- Train, coach, and motivate the team to maintain consistency.
- Collaborate with senior management to support business development and concept launch.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Kitchen Manager, or a strong Sous Chef ready to step up to take the reins of their own kitchen.
- Essential experience with peaks and troughs of seasonal business and peak volume.
- Experience in event and banqueting catering (weddings preferred).
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Confident managing stock, GP, and kitchen operations.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Interest in developing menus and delivering a consistent guest experience.
