We are seeking a reliable and proactive Site Services Operative to join our fantastic team. The Site Services Team plays an essential role to ensure Eden is always kept clean, safe and ensuring our guests are having the best possible experience.

This hands-on role involves a mix of cleaning and recycling duties as well as car parking and the opportunity to drive our internal shuttle bus service. Keeping hygiene, health and safety at the forefront of the working day, the role involves record keeping and the responsible handling of cleaning supplies and special equipment. Prior experience and knowledge is not required as full training for the role will be given. A full UK driving license (manual) is essential.

Role Purpose

To develop skills and inspire with the Eden passion required to put the guest-first and deliver a world class experience. Responsible for the delivery of cleanliness, hygiene and sorting of recycling streams across the Eden Project whilst actively contributing to the traffic and transport operations supporting the enjoyment of our guests.

Key Accountabilities
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy destination, ensuring all activities are undertaken in accordance with Eden's policies and procedures whilst complying with Health and Safety and COSHH regulations.
  • Work with leadership and colleagues in ensuring that areas of work are always clean and tidy. Putting yourself in the guests’ shoes and act as the supporting eyes and ears of the site and raise concerns if it is felt that our guests’ expectations are not being met.
  • Responsible for measuring and sorting waste streams into separate clean recyclables, undertaking timely and accurate completion of waste and cleaning records and hygiene related administration as required with Eden’s cleaning, waste and recycling management routines.
  • Responsible for specialist cleaning procedures including pressure washing, mist sanitation and deep cleaning.
  • To work to an efficient traffic management plan that ensures the anticipated visitor numbers are parked safely and quickly, optimising the available space and allowing a smooth transition of guests to site.
Demands of the Role

The role holder will be required to hold a full UK driving license. Relevant training or qualifications in customer service (NVQ). First Aid at Work and Health and Safety training at a minimum level 2. Presentation skills or training desirable. Minimum of 1 years’ experience in a driving role. Strong character, team player and a ‘can do’ attitude. ICT literate with a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. The ability to work with others and on your own, basic vehicle fault finding, problem solving, supported by a good level of interpersonal skills. Chapter 8 training is desirable.

Decision-making

Make day to day decisions with the Team Supervisor in order to ensure that the daily delivery is seamless. Any complex, business critical decision making will be escalated to the Duty Manager. Self-motivated with the ability to work on your own and as a team to tackle challenges head on with a positive, can-do attitude. Collaborates with colleagues and the Team Leader to devise innovative and creative ways to improve the Eden Shuttle and Car Parking services to enhance these aspects of the guest experience.

People & asset management

Assists less experienced staff and trainees providing on-the-job training and coaching as required. A shared responsibility for the basic care, cleanliness and daily routine maintenance of the Eden Shuttle and minibus. The job holder will regularly be required to engage, communicate and interact with guests. Communicate well at all levels with the ability to feed back to the Team when needed. Positively champions and promotes the guest experience through all aspects of your role. Provides the highest level of support to the team.

Operational environment

The role holder will be working outside in all weathers with long periods of standing amongst constant moving traffic. It is based on site in a visitor facing environment at all times. In order to meet operational site needs you will be required to work weekends and some evenings.
