About the Role
Support Worker in Supported Living Services for adults aged 18 and over with learning disabilities, autism, mental ill health and complex needs. The role involves supporting individuals in their own homes and in the community to live as independently as possible.
Responsibilities
- Support service users to lead a full and active life in line with their wishes and choices, considering their assessed needs and individual support and care plans, and participate in the development of plans where applicable.
- Ensure the safety of individuals by taking appropriate safeguarding action where required and protecting them from abuse.
- Provide emotional support and maintain a person‑centred approach.
- Encourage and enable service users to participate in chosen social activities and services in their community, manage their finances and medication responsibly, help with practical tasks around the home, and support with personal care, hygiene and healthcare.
- Act as an informal point of contact for families and social workers within the service users’ circle of support.
- Accurately report and record any issues related to the care and support of Service Users to monitor their health and wellbeing.
- Comply with Health and Safety regulations and consider the health, safety and welfare of others.
Qualifications and Attributes
- Caring and compassionate, with a genuine passion for helping service users achieve independence.
- Ability to remain positive on challenging days and provide a positive influence on others’ wellbeing.
- Good teamwork skills, with willingness to support colleagues and take initiative when required.
