Specialist Support Worker - Full Time

Responsibilities

• Support service users to lead a full and active life in line with their wishes and choices, considering their assessed needs and individual support and care plans, and participate in plan development where applicable.
• Support individuals to stay safe, take appropriate action to safeguard their welfare, and protect them from abuse where possible.
• Provide emotional support as needed, maintaining a person-centred approach.
• Assist service users to participate in chosen social activities and services in the community, manage finances and medication responsibly, help with practical tasks around the home, and respectfully support with personal care, hygiene and healthcare.
• Act as an informal point of contact for those in the service users’ circle of support (e.g., families and social workers).
• Accurately report and record any issues related to the care and support of our service users to monitor health and wellbeing.
• Comply with Health and Safety regulations and consider the health, safety and welfare of others.
• Form appropriate relationships with those we care for and maintain professional boundaries in work.
• Work within organisational policies, procedures and guidance.
• Demonstrate the organisation’s values and behaviours in daily work.

Additional Information

• We understand that not everyone has experience in the care sector; we recruit based on values. If you’re new to care, we provide support to complete required certifications and qualifications.
• Ability to remain positive on challenging days and positively influence how someone feels.
• Enjoy working as part of a team and using your own initiative, with a willingness to support colleagues when needed.
• Role includes comprehensive induction, face-to-face training, e-learning, and shadowing; support to complete the Care Certificate and a nationally recognised Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care or role-relevant training with our partner Paragon Skills.
• Roles involve contact with service users and are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
