The Opportunity

An ambitious and growing design & build specialist is seeking a Technical Services Manager with a strong mechanical building services background to join its expanding preconstruction team.

This is a unique opportunity to join a business at an exciting stage of growth, playing a key role in shaping technical standards, improving project certainty and reducing risk before projects enter delivery.

You’ll work at the forefront of project acquisition and design development, reviewing technical solutions, supporting commercial teams and ensuring coordinated, compliant and buildable MEP packages are developed prior to contract award.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical technical review of MEP packages from initial enquiry through to contract award.
  • Review HVAC, ventilation, public health, drainage and plant strategies.
  • Identify technical risks, design deficiencies, scope gaps and buildability concerns.
  • Support tender submissions through technical reviews and contractor engagement.
  • Work closely with estimators, commercial teams, consultants and specialist contractors.
  • Review contractor proposals, technical submissions and design information.
  • Develop value engineering opportunities and technical solutions.
  • Participate in surveys, client meetings and design workshops.
  • Produce robust pre-contract handover information for delivery teams.
  • Support the continued development of technical processes and procedures within the business.
  • Ideal Background
  • Strong mechanical building services experience.
  • Previous experience as a Technical Services Manager, Building Services Manager, MEP Manager, Mechanical Project Manager or Preconstruction Manager.
  • Experience within fit-out, refurbishment, commercial interiors, life sciences or complex construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, ventilation and public health systems.
  • Ability to review designs, specifications and technical submissions.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of tender processes.
