An independent engineering and sustainability consultancy is looking for a Senior Energy Consultant to join its growing team in London. This is a hands‑on technical role for someone who enjoys combining detailed building physics modelling with client‑facing consultancy. You'll take the lead on energy strategies and modelling work, while also representing the business in client meetings and design team workshops, helping to influence sustainable design decisions from early stage through to delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering building energy modelling and analysis using IES‑VE
- Producing energy strategies and decarbonisation studies for new‑build and refurbishment projects
- Undertaking Part L compliance, EPCs, TM52, TM59, Part O and daylight modelling
- Supporting HVAC and passive design optimisation through building physics analysis
- Presenting modelling results and recommendations in client review meetings and design team meetings
- Challenging design assumptions constructively using evidence‑based modelling
- Managing your own projects, including scope, programme and client communication
- Supporting junior engineers and contributing to technical quality across the team
- Assisting with fee proposals, bids and client relationship development
About you:
- Degree‑qualified in engineering or a related discipline
- Strong experience with IES‑VE and building physics modelling
- Solid understanding of UK compliance and performance standards (Part L, TM52, TM59, Part O, EPCs)
- Confident presenting technical outputs to both technical and non‑technical audiences
- Comfortable working directly with clients and contributing in design team environments
- Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
- Motivated by low‑carbon design and high‑quality technical delivery
