A growing engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior or Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join its Building Services team. The business delivers engineering expertise across a diverse portfolio of projects throughout the UK, supporting clients across sectors including commercial, defence, public sector, transportation, utilities and infrastructure. For those operating at Principal level, the role offers additional responsibility around project leadership, client management, business development and mentoring junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and delivery of electrical building services systems across a variety of projects
  • Design power, lighting, small power, fire alarm, security and communications systems
  • Produce and review calculations, specifications, reports and technical documentation
  • Coordinate with mechanical, sustainability and structural teams to deliver integrated design solutions
  • Attend client, contractor and design team meetings
  • Undertake site visits and provide technical support during construction
  • Manage project programmes, resources and deliverables
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and contribute to technical excellence across the team
About You
  • Degree qualified in Electrical or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Experience working within a building services consultancy environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical building services design
  • Proficiency with industry-standard design software
  • Good understanding of UK Building Regulations and relevant industry standards
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders
Desirable
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards Chartership
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary projects
  • Knowledge of low-carbon and sustainable building design principles
  • Experience supporting bids, proposals or client development activities
