Overview
Mechanical Design Engineer – Building Services, London (Hybrid: 3 days in office, 2 days WFH)
Salary: up to 50,000 per annum
Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical building services design for residential and hospitality schemes—from initial concept through to detailed design, coordination, and documentation
- Deliver compliance with relevant building regulations, standards, and sustainable design targets
- Collaborate closely with structural, electrical, and architectural teams, ensuring seamless integration
- Organise and participate in technical design reviews with both internal team members and clients
- Incorporate sustainability measures and innovate solutions to optimise energy performance
- Assist with coordination in BIM environments and resolve technical clashes effectively
- Support junior engineers, offering guidance and contributing to their development
Qualifications
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related field
- Proven experience (ideally 3+ years) designing mechanical services on residential and/or hotel projects
- Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and fire services
- Familiarity with UK building regulations and BCO/HVAC design guides
- Competency with design tools such as Revit MEP, AutoCAD, or similar platforms
- Excellent technical communication skills in both written and spoken English
- Strong collaborative ethos and confident in managing multiple stakeholders
- Ideally, experience working in multidisciplinary or consultancy environments
