Mechanical Design Engineer – Building Services, London (Hybrid: 3 days in office, 2 days WFH)

Salary: up to 50,000 per annum

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical building services design for residential and hospitality schemes—from initial concept through to detailed design, coordination, and documentation
  • Deliver compliance with relevant building regulations, standards, and sustainable design targets
  • Collaborate closely with structural, electrical, and architectural teams, ensuring seamless integration
  • Organise and participate in technical design reviews with both internal team members and clients
  • Incorporate sustainability measures and innovate solutions to optimise energy performance
  • Assist with coordination in BIM environments and resolve technical clashes effectively
  • Support junior engineers, offering guidance and contributing to their development

Qualifications

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related field
  • Proven experience (ideally 3+ years) designing mechanical services on residential and/or hotel projects
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and fire services
  • Familiarity with UK building regulations and BCO/HVAC design guides
  • Competency with design tools such as Revit MEP, AutoCAD, or similar platforms
  • Excellent technical communication skills in both written and spoken English
  • Strong collaborative ethos and confident in managing multiple stakeholders
  • Ideally, experience working in multidisciplinary or consultancy environments
