Role Overview: Our client is seeking a qualified Asbestos Surveyor to join its Compliance Team on a six-month contract. This hybrid role includes technical surveying, contractor management, and asbestos data governance. The successful candidate will oversee external surveying contractors, ensure quality assurance, and maintain the Council\’s asbestos register – supporting compliance across the housing stock and selected non-housing properties.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee and manage external contractors carrying out asbestos surveys
* Review and validate survey reports for accuracy and compliance
* Conduct occasional validation and direct surveys (management, refurbishment, demolition)
* Monitor contractor performance and ensure work aligns with HSG264 and CAR 2012 regulations
* Liaise with internal teams to ensure continuity of safety measures and project tracking
* Manage and update the Council\’s asbestos register with timely and accurate data
* Maintain comprehensive documentation and ensure traceability of asbestos-related records
* Assist with developing remedial actions and compliance strategies across the estate
Essential Qualifications:
* BOHS P402 – Surveying and Sampling Strategies for Asbestos in Buildings
* BOHS P405 – Management of Asbestos in Buildings (including Asbestos Removal)
Desirable Qualifications:
* BOHS P403 – Air Sampling of Asbestos and Fibre Counting
* BOHS P404 – Clearance Testing and the Requirements of a Certificate for Reoccupation
Experience & Skills:
* Minimum 5 years\’ experience in asbestos surveying and contractor oversight
