Swindon Borough Council are looking for an experienced Social Worker to join as a Team Manager in its Assessment and Child Protection Team. This is a 3-month initial contract, 37 hours a week, with flexible working. Candidates must be able to attend the office for 1 full week out of 6 for duty week, plus 1-2 days otherwise. The pay rate is £47.50 per hour, with a £100 weekly travel and accommodation allowance until August 2026.

The Team Manager provides supervision, guidance, and support to social workers, ensuring that statutory responsibilities and safeguarding procedures are followed. They are also responsible for managing workloads, maintaining high practice standards, and ensuring that children and families receive appropriate support and intervention.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and support a team of social workers within the Assessment and Child Protection service.
  • Provide strong leadership, supervision, and guidance to ensure effective case management and safeguarding practice.
  • Oversee assessments, child protection enquiries, and care planning to ensure statutory duties are met.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Monitor team performance, workloads, and service delivery standards.
