Experienced Social Worker required for work within the Assessment and Child Protection Team in Swindon. 37 hours a week. Competitive rates of pay £42ph, minimum 3 month contracts. Good transport links to the M4. Strong supportive manager and team. Flexible, hybrid working arrangements.
Swindon Borough Council has confirmed that the £100 weekly travel and accommodation expenses will remain in place for all new and existing agency placements within Children's Social Care until 10 May 2026. Workers must reside more than 50 miles from Swindon.
Social Workers will be working in this front line service and need previous experience of working within the Assessment setting within Social Care. The service is provided by experienced Social Workers, who carry out statutory assessments involving home visits, consulting with other professionals/practitioners and agencies, gathering information for the assessment and analysing the potential risk to any child or young person. You will undertake initial assessments and section 47 Child Protection investigations. After the completion of the assessment, the case is either closed or held to the point of transfer to the Long Term Locality Teams.
Candidates will be managing a diverse and complex caseload within deadlines. Constant contact within all teams within Children's & Families Social Care and external agencies to address children's and their families' needs with the best possible outcomes. Communication with line managers will allow identification of professional development and training that would be beneficial personally and to the team as a whole.
You will be Social Work England registered, ideally a driver with access to your own car and able to reside and work in the UK.
