Wolverhampton City Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Finding Families Social Worker to join the Regional Adoption Agency. This role plays a vital part in securing safe, stable, and nurturing adoptive families for children across the Black Country region.

About the Role
The Finding Families Social Worker will deliver a high-quality, effective social work service that responds to the needs of children and families within statutory guidelines. You will undertake complex adoption-related casework, support prospective adopters, and work collaboratively across the Regional Adoption Agency to ensure seamless, consistent practice.
This role offers flexible working between home, office, and other suitable locations across the Black Country.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide timely, high-quality social work interventions to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes
- Undertake complex adoption casework, including assessing prospective adopters
- Assess adopter suitability for matching with specific children, considering long-term needs
- Develop and manage adoption support plans in line with statutory guidance
- Produce clear, analytical written and verbal reports based on complex evidence
- Maintain accurate, well-organised case files and meet statutory timescales
Practice & Professional Standards
- Apply the Behaviours and Guiding Principles for Children & Young People Services
- Use research, legislation, and statutory guidance to inform practice
- Adopt a restorative practice approach in all areas of work
- Participate in duty systems as required
- Provide guidance to family support workers and administrative staff
- Respond sensitively and promptly to service user enquiries and complaints
Integrated Working
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies across the Regional Adoption Agency
- Build strong professional relationships with adopters, children, and families
- Offer consultation, support, and guidance to colleagues and partner agencies
- Contribute to group work, training, and wider service development
Other Duties
- Participate in training, appraisal, and continuous professional development
- Comply with Council policies including safeguarding, data protection, and equality
- Support service improvement and uphold the Council's Corporate Parenting responsibilities
Essential Requirements
- Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
- At least 3 years' experience as a Social Worker within Children's Services as a Permanent Social Worker within an England Local Authority
- Social Work England Registration
- Driving licence and access to your own vehicle
