Senior Social Worker / Senior Practitioner – Complex SafeguardingLocation: TamesidePay Rate: Competitive – dependent on experienceWorkstyle: Primarily office-based with multi-agency engagement
About the Role:Tameside Children's Services are seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner to join our Complex Safeguarding Multi-Agency Team. This senior role is pivotal in leading safeguarding interventions for children at risk of exploitation, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality practice across the borough.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and advise on complex safeguarding decisions for children at risk of exploitation.
- Provide supervision, coaching, training, and consultancy to internal staff and multi-agency professionals.
- Support early identification of harm and promote effective safeguarding practices.
- Mentor less experienced staff, fostering a learning culture and continuous professional development.
- Manage positive interventions and organise targeted days of action to raise awareness across professionals and communities.
- Oversee children who go missing from home or care, ensuring return home interviews and follow-up actions are conducted appropriately.
- Provide specialist advice and guidance to the Children's Workforce and Safeguarding Partnership in line with Tameside Safeguarding Partnership procedures and risk assessment frameworks.
Candidate Requirements:
- Social Work England registered and fully qualified.
- Extensive experience in safeguarding children, particularly in complex or high-risk cases.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills.
- Excellent assessment, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to influence and collaborate with multi-agency professionals.
- Committed to a learning culture and progressive social work practice.
