Eden Brown Synergy are currently looking for an experienced Team Manager to join the Child in Care Team at Havering Council.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide strong operational and professional leadership to the Child in Care Team, ensuring children receive high-quality statutory services.

Manage, supervise, and support Social Workers, providing regular supervision, guidance, and management oversight.

Ensure effective care planning and permanence planning for children in care, with the childs wishes, feelings, needs, and best interests at the centre of practice.

Oversee the quality and timeliness of statutory visits, assessments, reviews, care plans, and other statutory responsibilities.

Provide management oversight of complex cases involving safeguarding, risk, placement stability, and permanence.

Ensure children in care receive appropriate support to promote their health, education, emotional wellbeing, and overall development.

Work closely with foster carers, birth families, Independent Reviewing Officers, education, health, and other partner agencies.

Support effective planning for permanence, including reunification, long-term fostering, special guardianship, adoption, and other appropriate arrangements.

Monitor caseloads, performance, statutory timescales, and quality of practice within the team.

Quality assure assessments, care plans, reports, and recording to ensure compliance with legislation, statutory guidance, and local procedures.

Provide professional challenge and support to Social Workers where practice or decision-making requires improvement.

Contribute to service development, performance improvement, and the delivery of positive outcomes for children in care.

Essential Requirements

  • Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent.
  • Social Work England Registration.
  • Significant post-qualified experience within Childrens Social Care.
  • Previous Team Manager / management experience within a Children in Care, Looked After Children, Permanence, or similar service.
  • Strong knowledge of Looked After Children procedures, care planning, permanence, safeguarding, and relevant legislation.
  • Experience managing and supervising Social Workers working with complex children and families.
  • Strong understanding of statutory requirements relating to children in care, including reviews, visits, care planning, and placement stability.
  • Excellent leadership, supervision, decision-making, performance management, and multi-agency working skills.
