We are currently recruiting for an experienced Locum Team Manager to join a Local Authority Mental Health Social Work Team. This is a pivotal leadership role within social services, responsible for overseeing the delivery of statutory duties and ensuring high-quality, person-centred support for adults with mental health needs. You will lead a team of social workers and practitioners, ensuring compliance with legislative frameworks and driving best practice across the service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and management to a team within Adult Mental Health Social Services
  • Oversee complex caseloads, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met
  • Ensure compliance with key legislation including the Care Act, Mental Health Act, and safeguarding procedures
  • Supervise, support, and appraise staff performance
  • Manage team performance, service delivery, and resource allocation
  • Lead on risk management, decision-making, and safeguarding interventions
  • Work in partnership with external agencies, housing providers, and health professionals
  • Contribute to service development and continuous improvement

Essential Requirements:

  • Registered with Social Work England (SWE)
  • Proven experience as a Team Manager within Adult Social Care / Mental Health Services
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g. Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act)
  • Demonstrable experience managing staff, performance, and complex cases
  • Ability to lead under pressure and make sound, defensible decisions
