We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Social Worker to join the Richmond Mental Health Social Care Team, delivering high-quality, person-centred social care services to adults with enduring mental health needs.
About the Role
This is a social care-focused position, with work centred exclusively on statutory responsibilities under the Care Act 2014. As a Senior Social Worker, you will play a key leadership role within the team, supporting the Assistant Team Manager and Team Manager while ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and strengths-based practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of approximately 15 complex cases
- Undertake Care Act assessments, reviews, and support planning
- Provide supervision and support to Social Workers and Social Care Assessors
- Act as a Safeguarding Adults Manager (SAM), leading Section 42 safeguarding enquiries
- Promote and maintain high standards of front-line practice
- Participate in and help oversee the duty rota
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies and stakeholders
Working Arrangements
- Hybrid working with 40% office-based requirement
- Mandatory team office days fortnightly on Tuesdays
- Office presence required when on Duty, in line with the rota
Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with current registration (e.g. Social Work England)
- Significant experience in adult mental health social care
- Strong working knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and safeguarding legislation
- Experience in supervision, mentoring, or senior-level responsibilities
- Ability to manage complex cases and support team development
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
