Barking & Dagenham Council is looking for an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join its specialist No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) Team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Social Worker with a strong background in NRPF to join a busy and supportive local authority service. You will be working with individuals and families who have no access to public funds, undertaking complex assessments and helping to ensure that appropriate support and safeguarding arrangements are in place.

The successful candidate will be confident managing complex cases, carrying out thorough assessments and making professional decisions in line with legislation, statutory guidance and local authority procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of complex NRPF cases.
  • Undertake comprehensive assessments of individuals and families.
  • Assess needs, risk and eligibility for support.
  • Develop and implement appropriate support plans.
  • Work closely with families, partner agencies and other professionals.
  • Ensure safeguarding concerns are identified and appropriately addressed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records.
  • Prepare reports and make recommendations based on professional assessments.
  • Work in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Promote positive outcomes for vulnerable adults, children and families.

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker (QSW).
  • Minimum 3 years permanent Social Work experience - ESSENTIAL.
  • Previous NRPF experience - ESSENTIAL.
  • Experience working with complex cases and vulnerable individuals/families.
  • Strong assessment and case management skills.
  • Good knowledge of safeguarding and relevant social care legislation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with partner agencies and other professionals.
  • Ability to manage a demanding caseload and work to deadlines.
