Agency Social Worker - Adult Social Care / Mental Health
Location: Torbay & South Devon area (On-site / Community Based)
Rate: £29.78 per hour (Total rate)
Contract: Initial 12-week contract, ASAP start, Potential extension subject to service need
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Job Summary: We are currently seeking 3 experienced Agency Social Workers to support Adult Social Care services within either Mental Health or Generic Adult Teams. This is an urgent requirement for experienced practitioners who are confident managing complex caseloads and working autonomously within a fast-paced community setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a complex caseload within Adult Social Care or Mental Health services
- Undertake Care Act assessments and reviews
- Complete safeguarding enquiries (Section 42)
- Carry out mental capacity assessments and Best Interest decisions
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
- Liaise with health, housing, and community services
- Support discharge planning where required
- Maintain accurate and timely case recordings
- Work in accordance with statutory guidance and local authority procedures
Essential Requirements:
- Social Work qualification (BA / MA / DipSW or equivalent)
- Registration with Social Work England
- Proven experience within Adult Social Care or Mental Health Teams
- Experience managing complex community caseloads
- Strong assessment and risk management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
Desirable:
- Experience within Local Authority Adult Services
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and Care Act legislation
- Experience within integrated health and social care teams
Additional Information: Immediate start required, Initial 12-week placement, £26.78 per hour, Community-based role.
