We are currently recruiting for an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join a well-established Children's Services team within the London Borough of Hackney. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and dedicated practitioner to play a key role in promoting positive outcomes for children and young people in care, ensuring that care planning remains robust, child-focused, and compliant with statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Chair statutory Looked After Children (LAC) Reviews and monitor the implementation of care plans.
  • Ensure that the voice of the child remains central to all planning and decision-making processes.
  • Provide independent oversight and challenge where required to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people.
  • Monitor the quality and effectiveness of care planning and service delivery.
  • Escalate concerns through formal dispute resolution processes where necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with social workers, managers, carers, families, and partner agencies.
  • Experience chairing complex reviews and providing effective professional challenge.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and report-writing skills.
