Eden Brown Synergy are currently recruiting for an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer to join the London Borough of Harrow. The following information provides an overview of the skills, qualities, and qualifications needed for this role.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Act as lead officer for the statutory review of Children Looked After.
- Chair Looked After Children reviews and Child Protection conferences in accordance with legislation and guidance.
- Ensure care planning is robust, timely, and outcome-focused for each child.
- Monitor the quality of social work practice and challenge drift, delay, or poor practice.
- Provide professional consultation and advice to managers and social care staff.
- Resolve concerns at a local level and escalate appropriately, including referral to senior leadership and CAFCASS where required.
- Use research and best practice to support continuous improvement within Children's Services.
- Promote culturally competent, child-centred practice that reflects diversity and individual need.

Essential Requirements:
- Social Work Qualification (Degree or equivalent)
- Social Work England Registration
- Significant experience working with Children Looked After
- Experience chairing statutory reviews and conferences
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and escalation processes
