About the Role: Trafford Council\’s Fostering Service is seeking an experienced Assessing Social Worker to join the Recruitment and Assessment Team within Provider Services. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that cared-for children have loving, stable, and high-quality foster homes to thrive in all aspects of their lives. Key Responsibilities: Undertake Form F assessments of potential mainstream carers, including face-to-face sessions, statutory checks, reference checks, and producing high-quality assessments. Conduct Connected Person assessments for potential connected carers, ensuring robust and thorough evaluations. Understand permanency planning for children and young people during assessments. Attend care planning meetings, legal gateway meetings, cared-for children review meetings, and other relevant forums. Present assessments at Fostering Panel and attend court as required. Undertake duty work including viability assessments, Regulation 24 assessments, and identifying foster placements. Deliver Skills to Foster training, including evening and weekend sessions. Support recruitment events and liaise with the GM Hub. Participate in team meetings, service development working groups, and continuous improvement initiatives. Work collaboratively with children\’s social work teams, Practice Managers, and Advanced Practitioners to maintain high-quality social work practice and achieve the best outcomes for children.Essential Skills & Experience: Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England. Significant experience in foster carer assessments, including Form F and Connected Person assessments. Strong knowledge of children\’s legislation, fostering regulations, and permanency planning. Excellent assessment, report writing, and analytical skills. Experience working with multi-agency teams and understanding the wider fostering and care system.
