Overview

We are recruiting for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join a newly established, nurse-led residential mental health service supporting adults with complex and enduring mental health needs. This is an opportunity to play a central role in shaping and developing a new service model within a psychologically informed, recovery-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take overall clinical responsibility for a defined caseload
  • Lead multidisciplinary ward rounds, complex risk reviews and CPA meetings
  • Act as Responsible Clinician under the Mental Health Act 1983
  • Provide specialist psychiatric assessment, formulation and evidence-based treatment
  • Oversee referral, admission and discharge pathways
  • Ensure robust risk management, safeguarding and continuity of care
  • Provide clinical leadership, supervision and teaching
  • Contribute to audit, governance and service development

Essential Criteria

  • CCT (or equivalent) in Psychiatry
  • Full GMC registration with licence to practise
  • Approved Clinician status
  • Experience acting as Responsible Clinician
  • Substantial experience managing complex mental health presentations
  • Strong knowledge of NICE guidance and UK mental health legislation
  • Demonstrable clinical leadership within multidisciplinary teams
