About the Role
Staffordshire Children\’s Services are seeking an experienced Children in Care and Care Leavers Social Worker to join their dynamic team. This role focuses on supporting children in care and care leavers, helping them achieve stability, permanency, and positive outcomes.
You will work directly with children and young people, completing statutory visits, assessments, care plans, and pathway plans, as well as participating in review meetings, case conferences, and court proceedings when required. The role requires a strong knowledge of Children Looked After processes, safeguarding, and multi-agency working.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake statutory visits and assessments for Children Looked After and Care Leavers
Develop, review, and implement Child in Care Plans, Pathway Plans, Placement Plans, and Safety Plans
Chair or attend statutory meetings, case conferences, and review meetings
Conduct child and family assessments to inform care planning and permanency decisions
Provide guidance and support to children, young people, and carers, promoting positive outcomes
Work collaboratively with multi-agency teams including health, education, foster carers, and adoption services
Participate in court proceedings and provide reports when required
Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records and statutory documentation
Apply knowledge of Children Act 1989, statutory guidance, and local authority procedures
Essential Requirements
Recognised Social Work qualification (Degree or equivalent)
Social Work England registration (current and active)
Experience working with Children Looked After and Care Leavers
Strong knowledge of safeguarding, Child Protection, and CIN processes
Ability to work independently, manage caseloads, and meet statutory deadlines
Excellent communication, report writing, and assessment skills
Multi-agency working experience and a collaborative approach
