Role Overview
Oldham Council is seeking experienced Child Protection Social Workers with strong court work experience to join our Safeguarding and Care Planning teams.
You will be a key member of a highly skilled team, working to safeguard children and young people at various stages of their journey. The role is focused on delivering statutory child protection, care planning, and care proceedings, ensuring that children are protected and supported to achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
As a Child Protection Social Worker, you will:
Deliver high-quality safeguarding services and support children and families through statutory processes.
Undertake child protection assessments, S47 investigations, and child in need plans.
Work on care proceedings and court-related work, including care and supervision orders.
Develop and maintain relationship-based practice, understanding context and family dynamics.
Participate in multi-agency meetings, case conferences, and family group conferences.
Prepare clear, analytical court reports, care plans, and statutory documentation.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, foster carers, schools, health services, and other partners.
Commit to reflective practice, continuous professional development, and career progression opportunities.
Essential Requirements
Social Work qualification (Degree or equivalent)
Registered with Social Work England
Minimum 3 years post-qualifying experience in Children\’s Services
Proven experience in child protection and court proceedings
Strong assessment, care planning, and case management skills
Excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
