Birmingham Children\βs Trust are seeking experienced Social Workers to join their Children in Care Service, supporting children and young people to achieve permanence and thrive into adulthood.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a high-performing Trust, supporting children who are looked after through robust care planning, assessments, and direct work β ensuring their voices are central to every decision.
About the Role
As a Child in Care Social Worker, you will be responsible for ensuring that children in care receive the highest standard of support, care and planning. You\βll play a pivotal role in helping children achieve stability, aspirations and independence, working collaboratively with partners to deliver positive outcomes.
Your role will involve managing a varied caseload of children and young people in care, completing statutory visits, care plans, pathway plans, and preparing for key transitions such as moving to independence or adoption.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of Children in Care, ensuring all statutory requirements are met
Undertake care planning, pathway planning, assessments and regular visits
Support children and young people to achieve permanence and positive outcomes
Contribute to court work and proceedings where required
Work closely with multi-agency partners to deliver coordinated support
Ensure the voice of the child is at the centre of all planning and decision-making
Maintain up-to-date, accurate case records and reports in line with legislation and Trust procedures
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
Proven experience working within Children in Care / LAC / Court / Safeguarding services
Strong care planning and assessment skills
Ability to work collaboratively and build effective relationships with children, families and professionals
Excellent organisational and communication skills
