Eden Brown are seeking an experienced Safeguarding & Wellbeing Team Leader for a Further Education College in Lancashire. This is a full time temporary role to start asap for ongoing cover. This is a key leadership role for a safeguarding professional who is passionate about supporting young people and has strong operational experience within an education or similar setting.
The Role
You will lead a dedicated safeguarding and wellbeing team, ensuring that safeguarding concerns are identified, triaged, and managed effectively, with the right support put in place at the earliest opportunity. The role is highly operational and requires confidence in managing complex cases, overseeing referral systems, and working closely with internal teams and external agencies.
Responsibilities
- Acting as a senior point of contact for safeguarding and wellbeing concerns
- Overseeing and managing referrals through a digital safeguarding system (CPOMs)
- Triage of cases, assigning levels of need and case ownership
- Providing case supervision and guidance to Safeguarding Officers
- Maintaining accurate, confidential records and monitoring student progress
- Leading on early help and crisis intervention where required
- Liaising with curriculum teams, pastoral staff, and external agencies
- Supporting vulnerable learners, including looked-after and previously looked-after young people
- Deputising as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) when required
- Contributing to safeguarding training, awareness, and compliance activity
- Using data and reporting to identify trends and inform safeguarding strategy
Team Leadership
- Line managing and supporting a team of Safeguarding Officers
- Allocating workloads and ensuring service priorities are met
- Leading regular team meetings and driving service improvements
- Supporting staff development and delivering training within your area of expertise
- Ensuring safeguarding practice remains compliant with current legislation and guidance
The Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience in operational safeguarding within FE, education, or a similar environment
- Strong working knowledge of CPOMs or similar safeguarding systems
- Experience of leading or supervising a safeguarding or pastoral team
- In-depth understanding of safeguarding legislation, Prevent, and vulnerable learner support
- Highly organised, resilient, and able to manage a demanding caseload
- Confident working with sensitive information and maintaining strict confidentiality
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across services
