Birmingham Children’s Trust is looking for an experienced and dedicated Agency Senior Practitioner to join their Kinship Assessment Team.

Location: One Avenue Road

Pay Rate: £33.30 per hour (Umbrella)

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support the delivery of high-quality kinship assessments, including Form K Kinship Fostering and Special Guardianship Order (SGO) assessments.
  • Provide expert guidance, support and supervision to Senior Social Workers within the Kinship Assessment Team.
  • Drive robust, timely and outcome-focused assessment practice that prioritises the safety, stability and wellbeing of children.
  • Support prospective kinship carers through comprehensive assessment, advice and guidance processes.
  • Undertake and support court-related social work, including preparation of high-quality court reports and evidence-based recommendations.
  • Quality assure kinship assessments and support plans to ensure they meet statutory requirements and best practice standards.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning, reflective practice and professional development across the team.
  • Provide professional consultation and advice to colleagues and partner agencies regarding kinship care assessments and permanency planning.
  • Contribute to service development and continuous improvement initiatives within the Kinship Assessment Service.
  • Ensure all assessments and interventions are child-centred, strengths-based and focused on achieving positive outcomes for children within their family networks.
  • Support the Trust's commitment to enabling children to remain safely within their wider family wherever possible.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and high-quality case recording and documentation in line with organisational and statutory expectations.
Essential Requirements
  • Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
  • At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
  • Social Work England Registration
  • Driving licence and access to own vehicle
